#10 of a 10 part series documenting Italian Hemp Farming in the 1920's the step here is "Stenditura" - standing - shocking to dry again. 12x16 for fiber, cut by hand, gathered together into bundled to e "retted" rotted through water immersion - than to be shocked - and dried than turned into fine linen, rope or more depending on the fiber.
    .
"Canapaio" - Latin Cannabis - Harvesting hemp was a family matter as all farming was. Labor intensive but the harvest here was bountiful - it could have been hand broke but it will be taken to a river area to ret or rot - not the best smell.
